Questionnaire Response

Alanna Jones - Emerson

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

As a parent, I’m running because I want to make a difference in the world that my child is growing up into. I want to work on behalf of Manitobans to bring the opinions I hear from my community into real, actionable and tangible results.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

My partner Chris and I live in St. Malo with our three children. I work at a 55+ active living centre and volunteer at Schools, helping out with reading in Grades 1/2

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

I will continue to move our community forward with strategic investments in education, health care and seniors’ supports. The promises of cuts and privatization offered by other parties will only hurt families in Emerson. I am committed to standing up for the priorities of my neighbours.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

Out on the doorsteps, I have heard from people that infrastructure is still an extremely important issue, which is why I am proud to be running with the party that will continue to invest record amounts in our roads, bridges and highways. Another important issue is effective, efficient, and affordable services for seniors.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

Local families are so warm and inviting. This sense of caring is something that I want to see reflected in government and I know the NDP is the party that shares those values.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

With the NDP, I have found their progressive values towards education as the best option for creating a Manitoba our children will thrive in. The Manitoba NDP share my priorities for investments in health care, education, and the economy.
