Questionnaire Response

Béla Gyarmati - Riding Mountain

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

I am running to ensure Manitobans across the province can enjoy accessible, high-quality education, a vibrant arts scene and a clean environment. I want to be a voice for the residents of Riding Mountain in the Legislature and foster a strong economy that allows Manitobans to access the jobs and education opportunities that allow them to stay in their home communities. I want to fight against reckless cuts that will only result in crumbling infrastructure, neglected parks and fewer job opportunities.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

I will be a strong voice for Riding Mountain in the Legislature. I believe that my experience along with my knowledge can get a lot done for a riding that has been neglected by the Conservatives for years.

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

While we have made great strides in flood protection, there is still much that can be done in the area to protect communities. If elected, I will continue to expand flood protection in the area. Along with that, I will make sure that the farmers in the area are being treated fairly and promote economic growth in this sector.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

It is important that we protect the lakes and parks of our province and build a stable green economy. I think there is so much beauty in this constituency that needs to be protected, while also creating opportunities for young people through good, green jobs.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

I value the sense of community. I see how connected local families are and want to advocate for strong community services that support a sense of belonging in our neighbourhoods.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

Riding Mountain is a beautiful constituency and I can make sure it stays that way and best represent the needs of our community.
