Questionnaire Response

Darcy Scheller - Dauphin

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

I decided to run in this election because we need to protect healthcare and keep smart, strategic investments in our community. I am inspired by the legacy of former MLA Stan Struthers and I want to continue to build the community.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

My business background and my role in building a successful company will complement my role as MLA. My career has given me a lot of insight into community needs and I look forward to taking my service to the next level.

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

I want to make sure we keep building with smart, strategic investments. I want to make sure we walk the Dauphin MRI and ER upgrades across the finish line. These projects will create good jobs in our community. The NDP will also move forward with projects like the new Dauphin Correctional Facility and healing centre. We need a government that builds, not a government that cuts.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

As a parent, I know that families want to ensure young people have a bright future here in our community. That’s why we’re investing in local infrastructure that grows the economy, while also ensuring college and university are affordable with comprehensive education grants for those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. I also hear from many families who want to ensure that we continue to build better healthcare. That’s why we’re committed to the Dauphin MRI and ER upgrades, to hiring more health professionals, and to reducing ambulance fees.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

This community is my home! Our greatest asset is our people. We have been through two major floods and a global economic recession. Our community sticks together in tough times and we support each other.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I will be a strong voice for Dauphin and work hard to make sure working and middle class families are supported.
