Fringe candidates determined despite challenges

April 9, 2016

Brandon Sun - Godon, who ran as a Libertarian in Brandon-Souris in the last federal election, is running in Arthur-Virden against PC incumbent Doyle Piwniuk and NDP candidate Lorne Topolniski. If voters keep electing the same two "tired parties," nothing is going to ...

Questionnaire Response

Lorne Topolniski - Arthur-Virden

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

I am running because I have been involved with the NDP for a very long time. It seemed natural for me to put my name forward and ensure that Arthur-Virden had a strong and knowledgeable NDP candidate ready to represent their voices.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

I have more than 30 years of experience working in the small business sector, including as a small business owner.

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

As a parent and grandparent, I will work to ensure our children inherit a world that is filled with opportunity and prosperity. I am committed to protecting and investing in the services families count on like health care, child care and education. I worry when I hear other parties talk about budget cuts and privatization. Families in Arthur-Virden can count on me to stand up for the services they need.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

Families in Arthur-Virden want to see young people in their area succeed. They want their children to have opportunities for good jobs, right here at home. We also need to continue to invest in local infrastructure and flood protection that will protect our communities and grow the economy.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

The community! I am an active volunteer and proud to support community efforts that make our neighborhoods even better places to live.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I strongly believe in the NDP values of caring for and working for all families with investments in health care, education and good jobs.
