Questionnaire Response

Mohamed Alli - Morris

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

I decided to run in the 2016 Election because I want to make a difference for local families and help build the services they count on.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

My experience came from being a union Member and the education I gained through Union schools. After immigrating to Canada, I worked 2 jobs, received my GED diploma, earned my Diploma in Labour Studies, and have spent many years advocating for workers’ rights. I know the value of hard work and will work hard for you as your MLA.

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

I am running because I want to stand up for the services working and middle class families depend on, like healthcare, childcare, and education. I am worried when I hear other parties talk about cuts to health care and education. As a parent, I want all Manitoba children to be educated in good schools and to get the skills and opportunities they need for a bright future and good jobs here at home.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

What I’ve heard most from families in Morris is how important it is to keep life affordable. That’s why the tax break we’re proposing for working and middle class families is so important, to put a little more in families’ pockets.

Health care is also always on people’s minds.  Our commitment to cut ambulance fees and the per-kilometer charge for ambulance rides in rural areas, and have ambulance services come under Pharmacare for low income Manitobans will make a big difference for many families.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

I value the people. They are caring, compassionate and accepting. I believe they want the same from their government, and these are values the NDP holds dear.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I have been supporting the NDP for over thirty years ago because it is the party that represent my values. It is the party that is compassionate and has values to represent all as equal. My candidacy in this election is for true representation for the people, working for all.
